Summary:
We head to the House of Purification at #24 to heal and clean our items and armor. We meet a wood elven female named Amara Caro, her husband Avard, and her daughter Amelie. We receive 6 Ehlonna’s Infusions (~90gp each, but we pay ~100 each split by Chimali and Neci).
We take a long rest.
We let Barnabas know that we found the book in the Workshop and that it was burned just a day or two before. Cecile Boulay’s mother wanted the glass restored, so we asked Barnabas if anyone knew he was restoring. We suspect he mentioned repairing the glass in a pub. He happened to see the purple-cloaked, red-haired, pleasantly-perfumed woman in the library and chatted with her.
We look for Tannis (guard captain) to give her the wendigo fangs. We encounter Gavin (her assistant/apprentice) and we find out that Tannis is in the Great Hall, attending to some “unpleasant” official business. We warn him that something else got to one of the wendigos before us. We keep the fangs to see if we can sell them.
We head to Orcish Gardens to see Mal to find out if he can use the fangs. We are directed next door to Hearthfire Inn and Tavern. He is over 10 feet tall, nicely dressed, and obviously wealthy. There is a very intricate lock on the door and Chimali takes notice, as it bears the same mark on a scroll he has (from the king and queen?). We see a small orae (pronounced ari). We trade in the 6 wendigo fangs for 1 blade oil that causes pain and suffering and 2 mind-affecting potions (1 minute, advantage against mental effects). We’ll come back in two days to pick up everything. We also look at tea, and Ta’an buys some. He advises us to take the Courier’s Union with us when we go to fight the gnolls.
We head to the library to return the book. Horace and Estelle Denneval (formerly the king and queen; they stepped down for their daughter Anise and her husband Ulrich, and their daughter Celeste - their son died of blight) run the library. We explain that we found the book, damaged. Purple-cloak Witch-hat-Face was looking for materials on immortal beings. Apparently, Ta’an knows some primordials? Wth? Estelle tells us that Mother Boulay’s mother seemed to think that restoring the window would help end the blight. Estelle thinks that there may be other copies of the book at Channathgate or owned by a high-elf book collector who lives in Kholtar (he hates blood elves). Lucas Someone-Or-Other. Kholtar has become a haven for people who hate blood elves. We could also check Bal Shadi to see if they have a copy, but she’s not sure. Inside the book, Imogen sees “Sadien Tel Lathari” - translated to Salvation of the Primordials (Rather than the Story of the Primordials on the cover). Al Sadien - one who brings salvation. The window was also labeled The Story of the Primordials.
We find out that the new king and queen were meeting with Tannis and the Vultures about the treaties and legislation.
We go to speak to Mother Boulay about Richard the bard. They haven’t learned anything new, but they have secured a small house for him so he doesn’t have to stay in a cell (he’ll be on house arrest). The only thing they found was that when Detect Magic was cast at level 9, she noticed a faint aura (school of alteration) about him. Greater Restoration didn’t work.
Phaedra needs to buy something for Glyph of Warding as well as a gem or crystal worth at least 100 gp (for each Homunculus Servant). Teagan also needs to buy something.
